Every single day, you are subjected to a lot of factors that contribute to your stress levels. It’s not easy being stressed—it can take a toll on your body later on. Relieving it through a good massage is a common method, but going through an acupuncture session takes you on a whole new level.

Acupuncture is anchored in the ancient Chinese belief that chi, the energy that circulates within the human body, affects how you function when it’s disrupted. It is a traditional Chinese medicinal method of inserting metallic needles at certain points of the body to pierce the blockers of chi. This method has been around for 2,500 years and is still widely used today as a complementary therapy.

The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centres (PARC) of Ontario offers acupuncture services in Ajax. With over 20 years of service, PARC always makes sure that the acupuncture services are above the standards to ensure satisfaction and relief.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture is considered an alternative therapy to treat several conditions like neck and back pain, migraine, neck pains, insomnia, high blood pressure, and more. You might think the needles inserted in your skin will leave you bloody once the acupuncture session is over, but that’s something you shouldn’t worry about.

Book an appointment with a licensed acupuncturist. For first timers in acupuncture, share your medical history, current medications if you have any, and the goals you want to achieve after the session.

You’ll see an acupuncture points chart which is a guided illustration on the pressure points of the human body. Here, you’ll have a clue where the needles will be inserted. The acupuncturists use rounded-edge needles to avoid bleeding and lessen the pain. After the needles are inserted, it produces a sensation resembling pressure. Mild electric current can also be applied on the needles. In time, you’d fall asleep and the next thing you know, the whole session is done.

The first session should leave you feeling recharged and better about your body. Avoid strenuous exercises, caffeine and alcohol consumption, and even long exposures to screen devices after the session. Take some time to rest and feel the chi flowing through your body without anything blocking its way.

At PARC of Ontario, we make sure that every needle we use is only good for one session to keep up with sanitation standards and ensure your safety. Our acupuncturists will prioritize your needs and safety throughout the whole session.
